On April 5th, the Claude UMW were honored to have the author, Timothy Lewis speak at their meeting. Mr. Lewis’ book, Forever Friday, was released in 2013 and has been optioned for film. The book was also chosen to be included in a Readers’ Digest select volume.
Mr. Lewis moved to the Panhandle with his wife and daughter in 1990 and decided to write full-time as well as be Mr. Mom. His very interesting presentation took us through how he came upon the idea that became the Forever Friday book. He showed us photos of the couple who were the inspiration for the wonderful love story told about in the book.
The book follows a couple in a long, successful marriage and the great happiness they found in each other. We enjoyed learning about some of the inside details of getting a book published and dealing with people in the industry who live a very different lifestyle than we do in Texas.
Mr. Lewis told us some amusing reactions that some New Yorkers had while visiting him in and around Canyon while in the process of publishing the book. Along with well-known Texas author, Jodi Thomas, Timothy Lewis is hosting the West Texas Writers’ Academy June 5-9 at West Texas A&M University. We will be looking forward to Mr. Lewis next book, Running Down Wind, sometime in the future.
